Warren Buffett Helps Man Propose from Behind the Borsheims Counter

Twenty-seven-year-old Eric Lefante, a Berkshire Hathaway Inc. shareholder, proposed to his girlfriend of six years, Carrie Fischer, this past weekend. What made it more special was that it was done with the help of billionaire Warren Buffett who owns Borsheims Fine Jewelry.

Buffet acted as a sales clerk while Carrie was under the impression that her boyfriend was buying her a diamond necklace; however, she would be leaving the store with a beautiful 1-carat, princess-cut diamond ring on her ring finger. Both long time admirers of Buffett, there could not have been a more perfect proposal.

It all happened when Lefante and Fischer sat down at the counter to negotiate on the necklace at the annual Berkshire Hathaway shareholders weekend event. During the price negotiation Warren told the couple he had something a little better as reached into his pocket and pulled out a ring box. Lefante  then told Fischer, “This is what I picked out,” as he dropped to one knee and proposed. Fischer was completely shocked and in love with the ring and said yes as the store broke out in applause.

Warm wishes were given with a bottle of champagne as Warren Buffet and Borsheims' President and CEO, Karen Goracke shared a toast with the couple.
