Chicago-based ShopperTrak, a provider of shopper analytics, has shared good news for retailers for the upcoming holiday season.
“We have seen a continuing trend of sales increasing in November since 2004,” says ShopperTrak founder Bill Martin. “That is going to continue this year.”
The 2013 holiday season is slightly shorter than average with one less holiday weekend and Hanukkah beginning earlier than usual this year. The shorter season may prompt consumers to start their shopping a bit earlier.
Some larger retailers such as Kmart and Costco are already taking advantage of this and have Christmas product out for sale.
ShopperTrak predicts that holiday sales will increase by a modest 2.4 percent.
Jewlery sales, and the luxury market in general, are predicted to increase.
