The heat is on
Brecken Branstrator   National
Jeweler     July 06

This was a long, hard winter, followed by a very busy spring, and I’m glad that it’s finally time to sit back, relax and soak up the sun. That’s why I love all the summer- and vacation-inspired jewels that I’ve been seeing lately; they seem to share in the sense of celebration and wanderlust that the season brings with it.

Bill Boyajian

If you find yourself with undue stress, your life is likely far too complicated.  We all tend to jam too many things into one lifetime, and the result is an unhappy, highly pressurized lifestyle. The End of the Diamond Grading Game?
  Rob Bates             JCK    July 06

A friend once asked the head of a lab notorious for overgrading how he lived with himself. Simple, the man replied. If I were supplying such a horrible product, why do I have so many customers? Sad to say, he had a point. The trade (well, a lot of it) has only itself to blame for the current diamond grading mess. As one longtime industry observer told me:

Michelle Graff           National Jeweler                 July 06
