Metal Massacre: Gold Sinks to New Five-Year Low, Platinum and Silver to Six-Year Low

Gold, silver, and platinum were all trading at multiyear lows on July 20, with platinum going below the $1,000 benchmark and the price of gold trading at around $1,100. On the Shanghai Exchange today, gold temporarily crossed the $1,100 benchmark to hit $1,088 an ounce, its lowest level since February 2010.

GIA's New York Career Fair Expects 50 Industry Firms to Attend

Nearly 50 diamond and jewelry firms, including  Tiffany & Co., CIRCA and Cartier, have registered for the  Gemological Institute of America's (GIA) career fair to be held on July 27 at the Javits Center in New York City. GIA stated that hundreds of openings exist across the supply chain -- from design and retail positions to manufacturing and management roles.

Report: Surge in Robberies from Diamond and Jewelry Traders

The Israeli Diamond Industry  July 20

According to a report by ISPS, there is a surge in diamond and jewelry robberies from travelling salespeople in different locations around the world. In the US, $16 million worth of diamonds and jewelry were stolen from traveling salespeople since the beginning of the year. The most problematic areas are Texas (11 incidents since the beginning of 2015, most in Houston and Austin, including two incidents in Houston last week);
