IDEX Online: Oppenheimer selling De Beers stake

Anglo American announced that it is buying the Oppenheimers' 40 percent stake in De Beers for $5.1 billion dollars. Nothing short of an earthquake in the diamond industry, the deal will give Anglo an 85 percent stake in De Beers.The transaction remains subject to shareholder approval with shareholder vote expected in December and closing expected in the second half of 2012.
