This year's market reports have shown that rough and polished diamond prices have been in fluctuation since the beginning of this fiscal year, rising at the beginning of last quarter due to a shortage in rough and polished diamond supply, then showing a decrease in price as global diamond output increased and customer demand decreased as a direct result of inflated rough and polished diamond prices. >>> 



IDEX Online: Oppenheimer selling De Beers stake

Anglo American announced that it is buying the Oppenheimers' 40 percent stake in De Beers for $5.1 billion dollars. Nothing short of an earthquake in the diamond industry, the deal will give Anglo an 85 percent stake in De Beers.The transaction remains subject to shareholder approval with shareholder vote expected in December and closing expected in the second half of 2012. >>>
