High price for precious metal prompts some to cash in

Michigan's struggling economy and record-high gold prices have prompted many residents -- mostly women -- to dig out their old jewelry and trade it in for cash.

"I've taken in my graduation ring and some necklaces that I wore in high school and some broken jewelry I thought I would get fixed but never did. I got $335," said Margie Brown, who attended a gold party at Talula's Home , Garden & Gifts in Clinton Township.>>>

$1.8M Diamond Necklace Stolen from Arts Fair

RAPAPORT- Thieves took off a with a diamond necklace worth an estimated $1.8 million from an arts fair in the Netherlands, according to press reports.
Police arrested two women from
Mexico and a man from Costa Rica suspected of carrying out the theft, but the necklace has not been recovered, a police spokesperson said. >>>
