SUSPECTS FLEE AFTER ROBBERY ATTEMPT – SHOTS FIRED
Salinas, CA – January 4, 2007
Two male suspects wearing black hooded sweatshirts and black scarves covering their faces entered a retail jewelry store, one of the suspects displaying a handgun. Speaking in Spanish, one of the men demanded money from a sales associate. Another sales associate from an office in the back ran out to interrupt the robbery. The suspect with the gun fired into a jewelry showcase, but no one was struck or injured. The men then fled the store and escaped in a tan or beige Mitsubishi sedan with two other people. Later that day a witness reported that a similar vehicle with four men inside was involved in a shooting incident between two vehicles.
