Petra Diamonds has uncovered a rare and coveted 29.6-carat blue diamond at a South African mine.
The "exceptional" acorn-sized diamond, with an estimated value of tens of millions of dollars, was unearthed at the Cullinan mine near Pretoria.
The Cullinan Diamond, a 3,106 carat rough diamond, was also found at the mine in 1905. That diamond now exists as two stones: the First Star of Africa and the Second Star of Africa.
Chief Executive Johan Dippenaar said the company will soon announce what they will do with the diamond.
