Our special thanks goes out to all those who attended the AGS Conclave in Phoenix this past week -- it was a very special event, as usual, where many relationships were enhanced and many new friends were made.  At the event, GemFind was honored with 3 speaking engagements on subjects ranging from social media marketing to digital catalog management for bridging the technology gap between vendors and their authorized retailers.  The standing room only at many of our talks is evidence that our mission continues to gain momentum and strategic following.

The U.S. diamond market is built on bridal jewelry and H SI stones less than a carat, says a new market outlook from De Beers obtained by JCK. The company's surveys say the best-selling diamonds in the United States fall in the 0.5-0.99 ct. range, with H or better color and SI clarity. >>>

By Brendan Conway                                   BARRON'S                                 April 29, 2013

Many U.S. investors who bought gold the last few years thought they were taking a position on Federal Reserve policy and the dangers those policies pose to the value of a dollar. These investors may instead end up at the whim of gold jewelry buyers in China or India. >>>

There is MIST Beyond the BRIC

BY EDAHN GOLAN                               IDEX                            April 25, 2013

The BRIC countries - Brazil, Russia, India and China - are the hotbed of growing diamond jewelry consumption. While the U.S. provides the slow, yet steady growth of a mature market, the BRICs are where the diamond industry has found large growth. >>>

Where to begin? In the past week, I've seen more cool jewels, talked about more timepieces, met more interesting people, and drank more champagne than in all the months of 2013 combined. The LINK Jewelry Summit I attended in Vienna on April 22-23 deserves a full blog post of its own,  >>>

App Jewelers Should Consider: Hang w/
By Emili Vesilind                                 JCK                              April  25, 2013

The more social media platforms proliferate, the greater the risk there is of retailers missing crucial connections with their customers. Why? An overage of popular apps and social channels can result in users self-selecting just a few platforms-say, Twitter, Vine, and Pinterest-ignoring other channels completely. >>>

One diamond's dark and mysterious past
By Nicholas Köhler                              Macleans                        April 29, 2013

The diamond weighs in at 68 carats and, when held to the light, reveals only cloudless perfection, an oval stone with a flawless heart. It glows candy yellow-"fancy intense yellow," in diamond-trade parlance-but its simple elegance belies a dark past. >>>

A history lesson in Vienna
By Michelle Graff                        National Jeweler                              April 25, 2013

The longer I am in this industry, the more keenly aware I become of how much we can learn about world history through jewelry. Prior to Baselworld, I took a side trip to Vienna, a mini-vacation before the big show. >>>

By Sri Jegarajah                            CNBC                       April 27, 2013

With their polished sales pitch and discrete security, it looks like just another high-end diamond show room in a well-heeled Asian capital. The stones were probably mined in South Africa; cut, polished and finished in India and shipped to the luxury-hungry markets of Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai. >>>
