Western boot brand Tony Lama Boots is celebrating 100 years of business this year, and to commemorate the event will be taking on tour a fourth-edition El Ray pair of bedazzled boots--the shoes are covered in 100 diamonds and 14-karat gold buckles. Susan Eisen, an El Paso jeweler, goldsmith, author, gemologist, designer and embellisher of the boots, said it was an honor "to show how the art of diamonds and gold can help celebrate momentous occasions." 
Long gone are the days of a handful of Madison Avenue firms controlling the advertising world. Shopping for an advertising agency is no longer done in smoke-consumed boardrooms and martini bars. With the advances of technology and the introduction of digital methods, the advertising world has changed drastically since the 1960s.

What is Bakelite? Bakelite is a castable, fire resistant plastic that was invented by Leo Baekeland in 1909. It was originally used for industrial purposes, until jewelry makers found that its light weight made Bakelite a perfect choice for designing and manufacturing inexpensive bracelets, rings, pins and other jewelry. 
What does this week's sharp drop in stock prices mean for online retailers? The answer depends, of course, on whether the market keeps going down or reverses course. If it keeps dropping, consumers will feel less wealthy and more concerned about their jobs. Share on:
