Man charged with faking $500,000 diamond robbery

A 30-year-old diamond salesman is being held in a Florida jail after police say he lied about being robbed of $500,000 worth of diamonds. The alleged hoax began about 9:26 p.m. on June 10, when a Florida state trooper responded to a radio call of someone in need of help who phoned in from a call box along Interstate 95, according to an arrest affidavit filed by Detective Leo Ferreira of the Martin County Sheriff's Office in Stuart, Fla.>>> |
