Tiffany to Close Iridesse

Tiffany & Co. plans to close Iridesse, the pearl-only chain it launched in 2004. The closings will occur "as we make agreements with the landlords and sell off the inventory," said Tiffany spokeswoman Linda Buckley. She said she expects it to happen over the next few months.There are currently 16 Iridesse stores.>>>

New York--Jewelers of America (JA) says the economic stimulus act contains several measures that will benefit jewelers, including small business provisions that will benefit the industry, and tax relief measures that will help pry open consumer wallets. U.S. jewelry stores appear to have a diverse employment base that seems to reflect the racial and ethnic mix of the total American population. In other words, the jewelry industry appears to be "politically correct" at the retail store level. An analysis of recently released jewelry store employment figures by the Census Bureau shows that the mix of jewelry store employees by race and ethnicity - White, Hispanic, Black and Asian - generally follows the mix of the U.S. population. >>>
