People are increasingly turning to gift cards as spending hours in a crowded mall looking for that last Xbox, iPod or Elmo grows less and less appealing. But shoppers should do a bit of research first. The gift cards that require the most diligence are from banks and credit-card companies. They can be used nearly anywhere the issuer's credit card is accepted. More importantly, they expire, and the issuers tend to tack on fees.  >>>

Gold bounced on bargain hunting on Monday after a drop of around 1 per cent last week, but the metal was likely to trade in a tight range ahead of a decision by the U.S. Federal Reserve on interest rates.

Spot gold rose to $800.00/800.80 (U.S.) by 10:39 (GMT) from $794.90/795.70 late in New York on Friday, when it fell more than $8 on the back of weaker crude oil prices . >>>

High-End Marketers Push Higher Men's Jewelry Sales

BEEN NOTICING A LITTLE MORE bling in your weekly sales meetings? A new report from Unity Marketing says that's because sales of men's fine jewelry is hot, doubling to $6 billion from 2004 to 2006. While that still accounts for just about 10% of the total jewelry market, says Pam Danziger, president of Unity, "it's becoming too large a market for most companies to ignore." >>>
