Round diamonds - Topping the popularity charts all the way!

An introduction to diamonds

Precious things have always been widely discussed! Even the minutest details of the precious things make people go on and on! Hear the term ‘precious’ and what clicks to your mind are diamonds! If it didn’t, well then ask your lady about it. Many of the amateur buyers of diamonds are not quite aware of the various cuts, shapes, colors and other specifications of diamonds. Partly due to ignorance and partly due to the fact (a bitter one!) that they just can’t afford to buy diamonds on the basis of its cuts, shapes etc instead they just opt for the cheapest piece of marvel. With all due respect to the budget of these people, it has to be said that such kind of buying is quite unhealthy. A better alternative would be to save money for some more time and buy a diamond of your choice of a specific cut or shape.

As you must have figured out already, diamonds do come in various shapes, sizes, cuts and colors. One can go on and on about the variety of diamonds, but this article would mainly concern about the shapes of the diamonds (one specific shape to be exact). Generally, diamonds are found in the shapes namely round, baguette, heart, marquise, oval, pear, princess, radiant and trillion.

Round diamonds and the ideal cut

Round diamonds, as obvious as it from the name are round shaped diamonds. The round shaped diamonds are considered to be the most stylish diamond out of all the available shapes. So much so that, many consider round shaped diamonds as the ‘ideal cut’ because of its intense dazzles and Sun-like innate sparkle. An ‘ideal cut’ is that type of cut which gets the best out of a diamond i.e. it displays the most intense dazzle of a diamond and as already stated, round shaped diamonds are believed to be the ideal cut (in fact it’s the closest to ideal cut). Further, round shaped diamonds helps a lot in concealing imperfections and flaws in diamonds, if any.

The round brilliant cur diamonds are the most common cut in practice. The right cut for a diamond is said to be done, when the light entering the diamond bounces back or reflects back to the onlooker or to the source of light. It takes superior craftsmanship to get the ideal cut to perfection.

Why should you opt for round diamonds?

Firstly, its symmetry facilitates a brighter dazzle and that spark adds a lot of charm to diamonds. Further, when the diamond is cut in round there’s less wastage (perhaps that’s an advantage of more concern to the jeweler!). It even offers a huge variety of possibilities in jewelry design and making, so you have umpteen options for you to select from.

It may be slightly costlier than the few other diamond cuts, but it still is the classiest and the most elegant of all the diamonds.
